Inês Tomada, PhD    

Nutritionist, Specialist in Clinical Nutrition

Born in the city of Porto, she graduated in Nutrition Sciences from the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto in 2001. In 2008, she completed a Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition at the same faculty, having started that year her PhD in Metabolism, Clinic and Experimentation at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, which she completed with distinction in 2013. In August 2021, she obtained the degree of Specialist Clinical Nutritionist by Order of Nutritionists.

Always dedicated to Women's, Children's and Adolescents' Nutrition, she works at the Children's and Adolescents' Center, and at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Service of the Hospital Cuf Porto, and in other private health units in the north of Portugal.

Since 2009, she is an Assistant Professor at the School of Biotechnology of the Portuguese Catholic University, where she teaches three curricular units of the Degree in Nutrition Sciences and coordinates a module of the Postgraduate Diploma in Pediatric Nutrition. She advises and is a jury member in academic examinations leading to the degree of Bachelor and Master, as well as in professional examinations of candidates to the Order of Nutritionists.

She is regularly invited to give lectures at higher education institutions, as well as conferences at scientific meetings. She has organized several professional courses within her area of professional intervention aimed at peers and other health professionals.

She is the author and co-author of several book chapters and scientific articles published in national and international refereed journals, and belongs to the editorial board of two indexed journals.

Between 2006 and 2017, she was a researcher at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto and the Institute for Health Research and Innovation (I3S) (Research Group: Aging and Stress), and since 2018, she is a researcher at the Center for Biotechnology and Fine Chemistry at the Portuguese Catholic University.

She has 6 merit and distinction awards in her field.
